FILIPINO COMMUNITY TARGETS TO SEND 500 KILOS OF CANNED FOOD FOR TYPHOON ONDOY VICTIMS ON 6 OCTOBER

1 October 2009 – The Filipino Community in New South Wales will send on 6 October 2009 a shipment of donated relief goods to the Philippines for the assistance of families displaced by Typhoon Ondoy (Tropical Storm Ketsana).

The LBC freight service and a Filipino-Australian benefactor are jointly shouldering the expense of shipping up to 500 kilograms of goods for the relief of the victims of Typhoon Ondoy. The benefactor is making this contribution to assist persons and organizations send their donations and collection of relief goods to the Philippines. As there has been a call among Philippine relief agencies for the donation of food for the victims, the shipment will give priority to canned food products.

The coordinating person is Emma de Vera, who can be contacted through telephone (02) 9760 0933. Ms de Vera said that the shipment will be dispatched on Tuesday 6 October, and donated goods can be received over the weekend and Monday 5 October for inclusion in the shipment.
