Dual Citizenship
With the passage of the Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003 (Republic Act No. 9225), former natural-born Filipinos all over the world can
re-acquire or retain their Philippine citizenship.
Checklist of Requirements
1. Two (2) original duly accomplished forms (available at the Consulate or online)
2. Proof of Philippine Citizenship
- Original (with registry number) or NSO Registered Philippine Birth
Certificate
- Copies of NSO-registered Philippine birth certificates may be requested
from the National Statistics Office website: www.ecensus.com.ph
(fees apply)
- If born outside the Philippines, Report of Birth (ROB) issued by the Philippine
Embassy/Consulate (refer to www.philippineconsulate.com.au/civil.html)
3. Proof of Australian Citizenship
- Australian Certificate of Naturalization
4. Proof of Civil Status
- Original (with registry number) or NSO Registered Philippine
Marriage Certificate
- If married outside the Philippines, Report of Marriage (ROM) issued by the
Philippine Embassy/Consulate

- If widowed, death certificate of spouse
- If marriage has been annulled, NSO-registered marriage certificate with
annotation
- If divorced, divorce decree
5. Application/Petition with Dependents below 18 years of age
- Please refer to no. 2 and 3
- If the child is adopted, adoption decree
6. Photos
- Two (2) passport-sized colored photos with plain white
background, taken within the last 3 months. Photos should
not show applicant in sleeveless or revealing attire and
eyeglasses should be removed.
- The same requirement applies to dependents
7. Processing and Notarial Fees
- Application/Petition for principal - AUD65.00
- Application/Petition for dependent - AUD32.50
Notes:
- Please bring all original documents.
- Applicant must submit 2 copies of all original documents.
- Additional documents may be required by the consular officer, as appropriate.
- Processing Fees are non-refundable.
- Only applicants who lodge or send their applications to the Philippine
Consulate General Sydney will be processed and entertained. For applicants residing outside of New South Wales, it is understood that when lodging the application to the Consulate in Sydney, that they will undertake arrangements to travel to Sydney in person for the oath-taking ceremony once their application has been evaluated and approved by the Consulate.
- Oath-taking is normally held at the Consulate once a month.
