(Sydney, 3 December 2012) - The Philippines was the Grand Slam Champion at the World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB 2012), a competition among international hip-hop dance groups held at the Sydney Olympic Park on 1 December 2012. Four Philippine teams bested competitors from Australia, the Bahamas, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, and the United States of America.

Mr. Romeo Cayabyab, editor and publisher of the online publication, "The Filipino Australian", received an award for Coverage of Community Affairs in Australia at the inaugural New South Wales (NSW) Multicultural Media Awards during ceremonies held at the State Parliament on 15 September 2012.

Consular Outreach Mission at Sydney 2012 Fiesta Kultura

The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney will conduct a Consular Outreach Mission for the Filipino community during the Sydney 2012 Fiesta Kultura organized by the Philippine-Australian Sports and Culture Inc. on 30 September 2012 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Fairfield Showgrounds in Fairfield NSW.

During the Consular Mission, applications for the following will be accepted:

• ePassport
• Notarial Services
o Acknowledgement/Consularization
o Authentication
o Waiver of Exclusion Ground (WEG) for Minors travelling to the Philippines
• Dual Citizenship
• Civil Registry Services
o Registration of Birth of a Filipino Child Born Overseas
o Registration of the Overseas Marriage of a Filipino
• Overseas Absentee Voting registration (for those who are eligible)
• Visa

“FLAVOURS OF THE PHILIPPINES” FEATURED IN SYDNEY

On 10 August 2012, the Philippine food festival dubbed, "Flavours of the Philippines", was launched at the Grace Brasserie, Grace Hotel in Sydney. This is the fourth year that the Hotel hosted the food festival.

The food festival was organized by the Philippine Tourism Office in Sydney headed by Tourism Attache Consuelo Jones in collaboration with the Philippine Air Lines (PAL), San Miguel Beer, exclusively distributed in Australia by Liquid Logic, and Grace Hotel Sydney.
