Updated Advisory on Tropical Storm Sendong

As of 23 December 2011, the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reports that Tropical Storm Sendong (international code name Washi) left 1,080 dead and 1,079 missing. 422 were rescued. A total of 348,749 persons or 65,067 families from 319 barangays were affected by the storm.

The number of people being served by the NDRRMC is 62,070 families or 327,590 persons. Of these, 62,070 families or 327,590 persons are in evacuation centers.

The Consulate has also been informed that I-remit Global Remittance has agreed to waive the service charge/remittance fee for monetary donations channelled through Sagip Kapamilya, GMA Kapuso Foundation and the Philippine National Red Cross.
