The Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions (CLIS) has launched the 2nd Nationwide Search for the Happiest Pinoy.
The campaign aims to look for and recognize the most cheerful and optimistic Filipino who has remarkably exhibited resilience amidst life’s constant challenges and who has made a significant impact on the lives of others.
The CLIS has extended the scope of this nationwide search to include overseas Filipinos aged 10 years old and above.
Online forms are available on the CLIS website, www.happiest-pinoy.com. Accomplished forms should be submitted to the CLIS Head Office at 821 A. Spring cor. J.P Rizal St., Makati, on or before 31 July 2012.

On 2 June 2012, the month-long celebration in New South Wales, Australia, of the 114th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence kicked off with activities held in the cities of Wagga Wagga and Bathurst.
Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis joined members of the Filipino-Australian community in Wagga Wagga, 458 kilometers southwest of Sydney, in a program featuring cultural presentations, a brief history of Philippine Independence and the Philippine flag, and an oath taking ceremony for those who have availed of the Dual Citizenship program. Present during the event were Member of Parliament for Wagga Wagga Daryl Maguire, Wagga Wagga City Mayor Kerry Pascoe, Temora Shire Councilor Irene Broad and Ms. Belinda Crain, Manager of the Multicultural Council of Wagga Wagga.

PHILIPPINE BPO AND IT COMPANIES PARTICIPATE IN SYDNEY BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY EVENT

The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) led fourteen (14) companies from the Philippine BPO-IT industry in participating in the annual CeBIT Australia comprising an exhibition, conferences, workshops and networking forum for individuals, companies and government agencies engaged in business and IT. The event was held from 22-24 May 2012 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Among the topics discussed in this year’s CeBIT conference are Cloud, Data Centres, Mobility, Security, Managing Trust and Social Media.
On 23 May 2012, the Philippine delegation headed by Mr. Martin Crisostomo, BPAP Executive Director for External Affairs, hosted a Philippine IT Services Business Seminar and Networking Event on the sidelines of CeBIT which was attended by representatives of various Australian and other companies. In her opening remarks at the seminar, Ambassador Belen F. Anota informed participants of the increasing capabilities of the Philippine BPO-IT industries in both voice and non-voice services such as software development, transcription, legal services and animation.
The panel of speakers at the seminar comprised Australian BPO Association President Martin Conboy, Pointwest Technologies President Ma. Cristina Coronel, SPi Global Executive Vice President Timothy Hardin, PCCW Philippines COO Eric Paragas and EXL Service Assistant Vice President Joanne Uy.
In his presentation at the seminar, Mr. Crisostomo outlined the growth of the Philippines BPO-IT services sector and the initiatives being undertaken by both the Philippine government and the private sector to create a supportive environment and position the Philippines as a preferred destination for offshoring and outsourcing. OAV Registration at Annual Fiesta in honour of St. Joseph the Worker

The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney is pleased to announce that it will conduct registration for the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) on 12 May 2012 from 10:30 AM during the Annual Fiesta in honor of St. Joseph the Worker organized by the Filipino Catholic Organization of Sydney (FILCOS-Blacktown) at the Philippine Australian Cultural Center, 80 Grange Avenue, Schofields, New South Wales.
Eligible applicants for the OAV need to bring a photocopy of their valid passport or Dual Citizenship Identification Certificate issued by the Consulate or the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.

PHL Consulate in Sydney Establishes Partnership With Filipino-Owned Establishments for OAV Registration Campaign

26 March 2012 – The Philippine Consulate in Sydney has engaged the Filipino owners of business establishments and offices in Sydney to help in disseminating information and encouraging eligible candidates to register as Overseas Absentee Voters.
The Consulate has identified around 30 Filipino-owned business establishments and offices in and around Blacktown City, New South Wales, where an estimated 20,000 Filipino migrants reside.
On 24 March 2012, Consul Marford Angeles led a team that visited Blacktown City (34 kilometers west of Sydney) and the suburb of Rooty Hill (42 kilometers west of Sydney) to distribute OAV flyers and the list of requirements for OAV applicants to business establishments and offices frequented by Filipinos. The team also responded to queries from members of the Filipino community on OAV and Dual Citizenship.
